Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle [PSLV] - How It Functions

An interactive, animated model, highlighting important sub-systems of India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle [PSLV] & their operations.

The Indian Space Research Organisation [ISRO] completed yet another successful mission, the PSLV-C20, on February 25th 2013, using the indigenously developed PSLV. Placed successfully into orbit were the Indo-French satellite SARAL as its main payload & 6 other piggyback satellite payloads, all for International customers. This launch marked the PSLV's 22nd consecutive mission success, in the course of which it has launched a host of Indian satellites, as well as a fair number of research-oriented satellites for International customers.
Check out the animation below. Will leave it you to figure out where to click to obtain more details of the launcher & invoke the animations. The PSLV is shown here with all its bells & whistles - its solid fuelled strap-on rocket motors [PS0]. The SARAL launch was carried out using what it known as the 'Core Alone [CA]' configuration, without the 'PS0' stage.
