The latest prototype of the Russian fifth generation fighter undertook, what has been described by its designers as the longest flight journey.
The aircraft flew from its Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Association [KnAAPO] factory to its M. M. Gromov Flight Research Institute test centre, it was announced on the 17th of January 2013. Unlike previous prototypes, the fact that this prototype would be flying on its own to the test location had been known since some time. These photographs were taken on that day.
