TED, the other day, released this talk given by then DARPA Director, Regina Dugan. She spoke about some futuristic scientific research programmes & technology developments being overseen by DARPA. Very interesting.
Just as interesting was her take on failure & how overcoming it was critical for the achievements of these 'jaw-dropping' developments.
"When you remove the fear of failure, impossible things suddenly become possible."
Regina Dugan has since left DARPA to join Google.
