The T-50 PAK-FA also flew alongside another of Russia's newer 4+ generation combat airplane, the MiG-29 M2, an advanced variant of the baseline MiG-29 'Fulcrum' aircraft.

On the PAK-FA flight-test front, recent reports have indicated that the aircraft had performed initial trials towards testing its mid-air refuelling capabilities. A significant step forward. News reports have also suggested that India would receive its first T-50 PAK-FA prototype in 2014, to carry out test flights, flown by Indian test pilots under operating & environmental conditions in the country. Insufficient information currently available in the public domain to learn of the nature & parameters of the test. Nevertheless, access to a fifth-gen fighter would be an invaluable addition to the knowledge bank of experience amassed by the country's developers. Properly channelized & pursued, this could pay rich dividends not only in terms of India's role in this programme, but also other aircraft projects being pursued by DRDO.
